Karl Blossfeldt

 

 

 

  Durante el primer año estudiando orfebrería en la Escuelas de Arte y Oficios de Madrid, cayó en mis manos un libro de la editorial Taschen de fotografías de Karl Blossfeldt, un fotógrafo alemán nacido en 1865 conocido por sus fotografías de formas vegetales, y desde el primer momento sus fotografías pasaron a servir de modelo en la mayoría de mis trabajos en las clases de dibujo y modelado, atraído por la geometría, la simplicidad y la belleza de sus imágenes, y este año volví a rescatar de su olvidado estante ese pequeño librito azul lleno de fotografías en blanco y negro que tantos recuerdos trae a mi memoria, y de ese reencuentro nació este colgante de mi última colección Primavera/Verano 2013.

 

   In my first year in the Artes y Oficios School in Madrid, studying metalsmithing, I came across a book published by Taschen of Karl Blossfeldt, a German photographer born in 1865 known for his photographs of plant forms, and from the very beginning I was fascinated by the geometry and the beauty of his images and most of the photographs served as model for my drawing and modelling classes, and this pendant from my latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection, is my way to pay tribute to that little blue book filled with black and white photographs that brings back so many memories to my mind.

Taller . Studio

    Han sido muchos años ya (aunque con sus idas y venidas) trabajando en este mismo taller, que para mí ha sido una parte importante de mi vida y que ha tenido una influencia clara en mis colecciones, en el hecho de estar trabajando en una casa con su propia historia y rodeado de pequeños dellates artesanales donde se respira el trabajo pausado y bien hecho, donde después de cerrar su pesada puerta de madera, era como dejar el mundo atrás y como si el tiempo se detuviese entre sus gruesos muros y me sintiese libre para trabajar sin prisas ni presiones.
   Y ahora que me estoy cambiando a un nuevo taller, es como despedirse de alguien conocido que ha formado parte de nuestras vidas y que nunca más volveremos a ver.
  
   It's been many years now working in my old studio, which has been an important part of my life and has had a clear influence on my collections. It's been very inspiring to me working in a old house, surrounded by beautiful details and with a history of  its own, where, after closing the heavy wooden door, was like leaving the world behind me and as if time stopped among its heavy walls and I could feel free to work with no hurry or pressure.

    And now that I am moving to a new studio, it's like saying goodbye to someone that has been part of your live and you know that you'll never see again.
