Meredith Frampton

Rarely comes to my mind the word perfection, but that was just what happened to me this summer at the Tate Modern staring at this painting of Marguerite Kelsey by Meredith Frampton painted in 1928. And I can't think of anything better to say about the painting but the information panel text that was by its side:

"The precision of Frampton's style belongs to the inter-war period. Following an academic method, he posed his model with great care and required perfect light in which to paint. He gave almost as much care to the resolution of the still-life as to depicting the sitter, whose clothes are at once classical and deliberately modern. For all his realiance upon the reality before him, Frampton's inclusion of a magnolia flower suggests the ruffling of the calm surface by hidden desires."

Cara B . B-Side

There is always a B-side collection, pieces that are diferents from the style of the current season and that I don't usually upload to the web or Facebook, but this doesn't mean that I don't like them or I find them less interesting. They are pieces that are born spontaneously in the workbench when I find accidentally a new combination of stones or when i'm working in a bespoke order, like the four pendants in the picture above, that this time, unusually and taking advantage of this blog, I'm posting.

Otoño/Invierno 13/14 . Autumn/Winter 13/14

Just at the turn of the new year, in January, it will be twelve years since I started to set up my first workshop, and in the Autumn/Winter 2013/14 Collection I looked back in time  to rescue some of the most successful pieces in these twelve years but mixing them with some new designs and adapting them to the new materials and styles from my latest collections.

Pendientes! . Earrings!

Earrings have always been one of my favorite jewelry pieces, maybe because of the delicacy and the special appealing that being always suspended and in motion provides them, and after being focused on pendants and necklaces in my past collections, at last a little army of earrings await in the workshop the beginning of the new collection.

Blue in London .

Bright and vivid blue, the blue of the sky left by the heat wave this summer in London. Above, in the center, art installation by australian artist Konstantin Dimopoulos near St Paul's Cathedral, second row, left and right, Rachel Adams sculpture and John Kleckner drawing from the exhibition Paper at the Saatchi Gallery.

Objeto y representación . Object and representation

After doing so many pendants with shells (like these here or in this other post) it's funny how I have the same feeling as when I'm working with real shells in these other pendants from the P/V '13 Collection, as if in my mind object and representation blend into almost the same.

Taller II . Studio II

Rodolfo Martínez is the early twentieth century architect of the building where my old studio was, and after spending so many hours working is this house in which he lived with his family, I can't help but feeling a strong affinity and connection with his work, unfortunately not as appreciated as it should be, that clearly helped to enhace the city in which he worked and lived.
