Los días de Navidad son, lo queramos o no, unos días especiales, alegres para unos y para otros tristes (y con una combinación de ambos sentimientos para la mayoría de nosotros) pero que siempre, cuando rasgamos el papel y abrimos los regalos, nos transporta a las cenas navideñas de nuestra infancia. Y sobre todo, es una época de preparativos y esperas: la impaciencia con la que de niños esperábamos los juguetes y veíamos a los mayores, desde primera hora de la tarde, trajinando en la cocina, abriendo mesas y sacando manteles y vajillas antes de la cena. Y el árbol, las estrellas y las guirnaldas es el primero de todos los preparativos, que se adelanta incluso a la propia Navidad. De niño siempre me fascinaron esas cajas llenas de objetos brillantes que se bajaban de lo más alto del armario del dormitorio de mis padres y que transformaban por unos días la casa en algo diferente, alejado de la aburrida rutina diaria, como una promesa de que la vida podía ser algo más que el triste colegio y el intenso frío que se adueñaba de las calles.
Y este año he creado estos adornos navideños con todos esos recuerdos y un poco de cuero, botones antiguos, cristal, perlas de agua dulce y piedras semipreciosas.
Christmas is, you like it or not, a special season, a happy time for some people and a sad time for others (and a combination of both feelings for the most of us). A time of the year that, when we tear up the wrapping paper and open the presents, always take us back to the Christmas dinners of our childhood. And above of it all, a time of preparations and waiting: the eternal impatience that as childs we expected the toys and watched adults, from early in the afternoon, fussing in the kitchen and opening tables and bringing tablecloths and tableware out before dinner. And the tree, the tinsels and stars are the first of all the preparations, coming even first than Christmas itself. And as a child i was always fascinated with those boxes full of shiny objects waiting at the top of my parents' bedroom closet that changed the house for a few days from the boring daily routine, like a promise that life could be more than the school ugliness and the intense cold outside the windows.
And this year i created these christmas decoration with all those memories and some leather, antique buttons, crystal beads, freshwater pearls and semi precious stones.
