When the last collection ends and the new one starts, there is always a time of experimentation where the new forms born from the former collection, little by little, make their own way and create something completely new. This is a time to let yourself go and be amazed by the pieces that are slowly covering the workshop, a quiet time to go underground and disappear to emerge later with something different and new.
And the first piece of the new collection it's always special, the one that opens the way for all the others. Like this brass, sponge coral, freshwater pearl and fluorite bracelet, the first piece of the new collection.

La muerte de Iván Ilich . The death of Ivan Ilyich
A couple of weeks ago i went to Nazaré, Portugal, for a weekend of sun at the beach, but with such bad luck that shortly after arriving, the wind was slowly covering the sky with clouds and we hardly saw the sun all the weekend. So instead of spending the day swimming and relaxing in the sun, i ended up drinking coffee at a sidewalk table in a seafront restaurant sheltered from the wind, reading Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich (that for a long time i wanted to read after learning it was one of the favorite books of Sylvia Plath) and walking in a gray and lonely beach, listening to music on my headphones and picking up pebbles from the seashore. I've always liked those pebbles you can find on the beach, maybe worthless, but that have a history behind, from the moment they fell, perhaps very far from here, into the sea, the tide brought them to the shore and the waves shaped and polished them. They have the natural charm and the fascination of what man has not touched and i always wanted to incorporate them into my designs, without really knowing how. So when i got back home i had the remembrance of all the long walks on the beach watching the clouds reflected on a increasingly rough sea, the story of the society and its lies from The Death of Ivan Ilyich still in my mind and a handful of stones that i did not quite know why i’d brought with me and whether i was going to use them or not.
At the moment that trip to the beach has given birth to a bracelet made of wood, copper and a white pebble found in an almost empty beach, where the wind was obsessively carrying clouds from north and covering the sun with them and bringing us to an autumn day and to an afternoon of walks along the shore where we could look at ourselves in the sea like in a gray and endless mirror.
