Sin tallar . Raw

   "Raíces y ramas, que sumando sus pequeños tallos, se agarran con fuerza a la tierra. La estrategia de la araña, que con finos hilos ata y vuelve a atar, hasta que consigue una cuerda gruesa y resistente"...  

    Mientras preparo la nueva colección, he rescatado una de mis colecciones clásicas, la COLECCIÓN ARACNE, en estos colgantes donde, solo con la sencillez de los hilos de latón, se unen las piedras sin tallar, como recién sacadas de la tierra, en este caso, dos de mis preferidas, el cuarzo rutilado y la aguamarina...

  "Roots and branches, that adding their small stalks, cling strongly to the land. The strategy of the spider, weaving and reweaving with thin thread, until it gets a rope thick and tough"...

   I'm preparing the new collection, but in the meantime i have rescued one of my classic collections, the ARACHNE COLLECTION, with these pendants where the simplicity of the brass wire lassos the raw aquamarine and rutilated quartz stones, like if they were taken directly from the earth as they are right now...

Triple

   Al final las horas de trabajo en el taller son más importantes que la inspiración. Las ideas surgen trabajando, y aunque a veces pudiera parecer que nacen por si solas, mientras las manos van modificando y creando, el ojo es el que dirige y corrige lo hecho, y todo lo que hemos visto y aprendido a lo largo de los años interviene en el proceso. Y una vez más, estos colgantes han surgido de manera inesperada, anudando y desanudando hasta encontrar el equilibrio, buscando una forma con la misma solidez de algo surgido de la propia naturaleza.
   Y después es como desandar el camino de vuelta por el laberinto. Intentar recordar cuales fueron los pasos para poder repetir la pieza de nuevo.

   At the end, the hours that you spend working at the workshop are more important than inspiration. Ideas are born in the working desk, and maybe sometimes it look like they appear by themselves, but while hands are modifing and creating, the eyes are the ones who are directing and correcting everything, and all we have seen and learned over the years is involved in the process. And again, these pendants have emerged unexpectedly, tying and untying to find the perfect balance, looking for a design as solid as something came out from nature itself.
    And then is like retracing your way back through the maze. Trying to remember the steps that took you there to repeat the piece again.

Equilibristas . Swinging

   La nueva colección siguen creciendo con estos colgantes de piedras semipreciosas, como pequeños gimnastas balanceándose sobre cordones de cuero.

   The new collection keep growing with these semi precious stones pendants, like little gymnasts swinging on leather rope.

Brazalete . Cuff

   Cuando se acaba una colección y empieza una nueva siempre hay un momento de experimentación en el que partiendo de la antigua colección van naciendo otras formas que poco a poco van diferenciándose cada vez más hasta tomar su propio camino y crear algo completamente nuevo. Es un periodo para dejarse llevar y sorprender por las piezas que poco a poco van inundando el taller, un momento de tranquilidad para meterse bajo tierra, descansar de la rutina y aparecer meses más tarde con algo diferente y nuevo.
   Y siempre es especial la primera pieza de la nueva colección, la que abre el camino a todas las demás. Como este brazalete de latón, coral esponja, perla de agua dulce y fluorita, la primera pieza de la nueva colección.

   When the last collection ends and the new one starts, there is always a time of experimentation where the new forms born from the former collection, little by little, make their own way and create something completely new. This is a time to let yourself go and be amazed by the pieces that are slowly covering the workshop, a quiet time to go underground and disappear to emerge later with something different and new.
    And the first piece of the new collection it's always special, the one that opens the way for all the others. Like this brass, sponge coral, freshwater pearl and fluorite bracelet, the first piece of the new collection.

Dorado . Golden

   Estas son las primeras piezas en metal y piedras después de que dejase descansar por un tiempo al cuero y a la madera. No se si ir a ver la exposición Teotihuacan, Ciudad de los Dioses, en el CaixaForum de Madrid, ha podido influirme o ha sido solo una coincidencia, pero tal vez volver a recordar las pirámides del Sol y de la Luna y la mañana de primavera que pasé vagabundeando solo por el museo de Chapultepec me haya llevado sin yo saberlo hacia estos colgantes dorados con cierto sabor de pieza arqueológica.

   These are the first metal and stones pendants i made after i let leather and wood rest for a while. I'm not sure if seeing the exhibition Teotihuacan, City of the Gods, in CaixaForum in Madrid, have influenced me or its just a coincidence, but maybe my memories of the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and the spring morning i spent wandering around alone at the Chapultepec museum have lead me unaware to these golden pendants with some resemblance to archaeological jewelry.

Madera manía 4 . Wood obsession #4

 

 

     Después de tantas pulseras, colgantes y gargantillas de madera, voy a darle un descanso a la sierra de calar, las escofinas y la nogalina y voy a volver a las piezas de metal. Estos son ya los últimos colgante hasta tal vez la próxima colección.

   After so many wood bracelets, pendants and necklaces i'm gonna give a break to the jig saw, rasps and walnut stain and I'm going back to work with metal. These are the last pendants until maybe the next collection.

Flecos . Fringe

   Flecos de ante y piedras semi preciosas. Siempre he usado ante y cuero en mis colecciones, primero simplemente como cordón para los colgantes, para poco a poco, después de experimentar con nudos y trenzados, volverse protagonista en muchos diseños y evolucionar a las piezas de piel y piedras de mis últimas colecciones. Y en una mezcla entre esas piezas y los trenzados y anudados, nacen estos colgantes de de ante negro y piedras semi preciosas de la Colección Otoño/Invierno '12.

   Fringed suede and semiprecious stones. Suede and leather have always been in all my collections, first simply as hanging cord for pendants, but slowly, after some experiments with knots and braiding, becoming the center of many designs and elvolving in the leather and stones pieces from my latest collections. And now, in a mixture of these leather pieces and the ones with knots and braids, are born these black suede and semiprecious stones pendants from the Autumn/Winter '12 Collection.
