Trenzados . Braided

   Hay algo especial en ir anudando y trenzando hilos y cordones, tal vez sea el movimiento coordinado y repetitivo de las manos (como un mantra o como el deslizar de las cuentas de un rosario) o el hecho, de alguna manera mágico, de crear con algo tan sencillo y delicado como un hilo, algo complejo y resistente. O puede que sea también su estrecha relación con la artesanía más tradicional, con la cestería, con el punto o incluso con los telares y tapices (porque tejer al fin y al cabo no es más que unir hilos hasta formar un tejido) algo que me recuerda al pasado de donde venimos y que termina definiendo quienes en realidad somos.
   Pero también puede que me recuerde a mi niñez, a mi madre y a mi abuela cosiendo y haciendo punto junto a la ventana, uniendo y trenzando hilos con sus agujas bajo la última luz de la tarde.

   There's something special about knotting and braiding threads and cords, perhaps is  the repetitive and coordinated hands movements (like a mantra or the slide of rosary beads) or the fact, somehow magical, of creating with something as simple and delicate as a thread something complex and tough. Or maybe it's also its close relationship with the past and old craftsmanship, with basketwork, knitting or even weaving and tapestries (because weaving at the end it's only adding threads to make a fabric): something that reminds me where we came from and ends up defining who we really are.
    But maybe remind me of my childhood too, of my mother and my grandmother sewing and knitting by the window, sticking together threads with their needles under the last afternoon light.

Flecos . Fringe

   Flecos de ante y piedras semi preciosas. Siempre he usado ante y cuero en mis colecciones, primero simplemente como cordón para los colgantes, para poco a poco, después de experimentar con nudos y trenzados, volverse protagonista en muchos diseños y evolucionar a las piezas de piel y piedras de mis últimas colecciones. Y en una mezcla entre esas piezas y los trenzados y anudados, nacen estos colgantes de de ante negro y piedras semi preciosas de la Colección Otoño/Invierno '12.

   Fringed suede and semiprecious stones. Suede and leather have always been in all my collections, first simply as hanging cord for pendants, but slowly, after some experiments with knots and braiding, becoming the center of many designs and elvolving in the leather and stones pieces from my latest collections. And now, in a mixture of these leather pieces and the ones with knots and braids, are born these black suede and semiprecious stones pendants from the Autumn/Winter '12 Collection.
