Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel

   Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel (1851-1913) fue un pintor e ilustrador francés nacido en Orleans, que después de estudiar Bellas Artes en París y de participar en la guerra Franco-Prusiana de 1870 empezó una carrera como pintor, aunque donde realmente destacó fue como ilustrador de libros infantiles, convirtiéndose en una de las grandes figuras de la edad dorada de la ilustración de literatura infantil del siglo diecinueve.
   En 1895 publicó la que está reconocida como su obra maestra, Jeanne d´Arc, la versión infantil de la vida de Juana de Arco, escrita e ilustrada por él mismo. Sus ilustraciones de gran tamaño están influenciadas por los grandes frescos de las iglesias renacentistas, pero con un estilo moderno tomado de los grabados japoneses tan populares en la época, y con un diseño sofisticado y teatral a la vez que limpio y depurado, donde destaca el uso de colores planos y suaves, después de estudiar las dificultades técnicas de la impresión en color propias de su tiempo para que no restaran calidad a sus ilustraciones.

   Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel (1851-1913) is a french painter and illustrator born in Orleans, who after studying in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and taking part in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 began his career as a painter, but his fame rests on his watercolors for children's books, becoming a leading figure of the nineteenth century golden era of children's book illustration.
    In 1895 he published and illustrated the history of Joan of Arc for children, which has been regarded as his masterpiece. Its large illustrations bear a resemblance to the great church frescoes of the Renaissance, but using a modern style influenced by the Japanese prints so popular in the artist's day. With a sophisticated and clean design and using soft and flat colors in order to solve the problems with the reproduction technology of his time and keep up the quality of his illustrations.

Sin tallar . Raw

   "Raíces y ramas, que sumando sus pequeños tallos, se agarran con fuerza a la tierra. La estrategia de la araña, que con finos hilos ata y vuelve a atar, hasta que consigue una cuerda gruesa y resistente"...  

    Mientras preparo la nueva colección, he rescatado una de mis colecciones clásicas, la COLECCIÓN ARACNE, en estos colgantes donde, solo con la sencillez de los hilos de latón, se unen las piedras sin tallar, como recién sacadas de la tierra, en este caso, dos de mis preferidas, el cuarzo rutilado y la aguamarina...

  "Roots and branches, that adding their small stalks, cling strongly to the land. The strategy of the spider, weaving and reweaving with thin thread, until it gets a rope thick and tough"...

   I'm preparing the new collection, but in the meantime i have rescued one of my classic collections, the ARACHNE COLLECTION, with these pendants where the simplicity of the brass wire lassos the raw aquamarine and rutilated quartz stones, like if they were taken directly from the earth as they are right now...
