Triple

At the end, the hours that you spend working at the workshop are more important than inspiration. Ideas are born in the working desk, and maybe sometimes it look like they appear by themselves, but while hands are modifing and creating, the eyes are the ones who are directing and correcting everything, and all we have seen and learned over the years is involved in the process. And again, these pendants have emerged unexpectedly, tying and untying to find the perfect balance, looking for a design as solid as something came out from nature itself.
And then is like retracing your way back through the maze. Trying to remember the steps that took you there to repeat the piece again.

Madera de nuevo II . Wood again II

As you would expect, bracelets are not the only wood pieces in the summer collection...

Cuadros y fotos . Pictures and paintings

These last days i've been taking some pictures of the paintings that my brother is leaving half finished all around the workshop, but not the whole painting, just choosing some parts of it. And somehow is like being in front of a landscape, and after choosing the best framing and perspective, raise the camera to photograph something that i particularly like, but i can't help but feeling that i'm taking something that is not mine, and anyway, there is something strange about photographing an object that are not real and that someone has decided previously not only his own perspective and framing, but has also created...

Anillos P/V '12 . S/S '12 Rings

Anillos de la Colección Primavera/Verano 2012.

Rings from the Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.

Tapiz . Tapestry

Most of the time i work the material directly, without any previous sketches, but with the original idea in my head, trying different options and letting the piece grows by itself as needed, and maybe because of that normally i don't really know where the inspiration came from until the piece is already finished, but being a follower of THE BRICK HOUSE and reading Morgan Satterfield's blog every week, there is little doubt that this pendant is inspired by her1960′s and 70′s tapestries collection and her fiber obssesion.

Pentágono. Pentagon

Following with the hexagons post, this photo of a cactus flower that it's almost a perfect pentagon.

Trenzados . Braided

There's something special about knotting and braiding threads and cords, perhaps is  the repetitive and coordinated hands movements (like a mantra or the slide of rosary beads) or the fact, somehow magical, of creating with something as simple and delicate as a thread something complex and tough. Or maybe it's also its close relationship with the past and old craftsmanship, with basketwork, knitting or even weaving and tapestries (because weaving at the end it's only adding threads to make a fabric): something that reminds me where we came from and ends up defining who we really are.
But maybe remind me of my childhood too, of my mother and my grandmother sewing and knitting by the window, sticking together threads with their needles under the last afternoon light.
